Join Our Team of Volunteers

On Wednesday 4th April from 3.00 pm onward we will have an open day at the Lifeboat Station and we are looking to add to our team of volunteers who serve Sheringham RNLI. Volunteer roles within our team include Lifeboat Crew, shore crew, Lifeboat shop volunteers and education visits team members and helping in a myriad of other ways. Our lifeboat men and women are all volunteers, they come from all walks of life, and they are prepared to help in all ways. The occupation list of our station makes for fascinating reading because it demonstrates the diversity of the people who are prepared to help reduce the loss of life at sea in whatever role they play. Today less than 10% of all new crew members come with a maritime background but importantly for every crew member we need at least twice as many non-seagoing volunteers to help with the day to day management of Sheringham RNLI. All of our volunteers are dedicated to the job, and are very much team player’s. Their commitment isn’t only measured in the time spent involved in rescues, but in supporting the Sheringham Lifeboat Station in delivering a first class rescue service

We regret to advise our friends, followers and supporters that until further notice Sheringham Lifeboat Station and both shops will be closed to visitors as will all the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) lifeboat stations, shops, museums and visitor centres. Besides protecting the wellbeing of our volunteers, our staff and our visitors this will enable us to preserve and continue with our lifesaving service. In addition, we will be cancelling all indoor and outdoor RNLI fundraising and other events including visits to schools. We will keep you informed via our website and social media accounts of any developments and will also provide updates on any lifesaving launches. Your support for the RNLI is much appreciated and we hope that you will understand why we have made these difficult decisions.
