The shouts from January 2002 onwards are listed below with the most recent first.

A 'shout' or callout is usually initiated when a member of public calls 999 and requests the Coastguard, if the coastguard deems it necessary they will put down a page to call out the nearest or most suitable lifeboat station(s) to the rescue.

All crewmembers carry a pager & when called they must respond as soon as possible 24hrs a day, 7 days a week.
Usually one of the first crewmembers/station officers to the boathouse will fire two maroons into the air, seconds apart, these fly to a few hundred metres and produce a huge bang. This alerts crewmembers that may not have heard the pager and lets the public know that the boat is due to launch.
The aim is for the crew to be fully kitted up and the boat in the water within 6 minutes of the page being put out.

This page will be updated as soon as possible after a shout.

The Sheringham Lifeboat was launched at the request of Yarmouth Coastguard at 23.35 hrs to standby and assist as necessary to help recover a possible casualty from the rock armouring on Sheringham seafront at high water.  The Lifeboat was also tasked to act as communications link as the Local Coastguard and other emergency services personnel went to the assistance of a young man who had climbed onto the rock armouring on the foreshore.

One of the Lifeboat crew climbed onto the rock armouring to assist the ambulance and coastguard personnel put the casualty in a stretcher before he and some over zealous helpers were finally removed from the rocks.

This was a very professional but unusual service, which again demonstrates the flexibility of trained lifeboat crew.

The 34 ft yacht GILLEY was proceeding westerly about 1½ miles NE of the station when she picked up a rope round her prop, which her crew could not remove.  In an almost copycat incident of the 6th July 2006 two senior personnel at the Lifeboat Station observed this state of affairs, which they reported to Yarmouth Coastguard.  The Coastguard contacted the yacht and confirmed the serious nature of the situation and then tasked Lifeboat to assist.

The weather on scene was deteriorating as winds picked up from WNW 5 knots to WNW 25 knots with an initial swell of 1-½ metres when the L/B took the yacht in tow at 16.50 hrs towards Blakeney harbour.

During the passage to Blakeney, the weather deteriorated significantly with the swell increasing to 2 ½ metres, which made the tow extremely difficult to control.   Although the towrope was lengthened on several occasions it eventually parted and was reconnected as the boats crossed the bar at Blakeney.

The Lifeboat took the yacht into Morston Creek where she was eventually anchored on an existing mooring.  This was an extremely good service very professionally undertaken by a knowledgeable crew.

The Sheringham Lifeboat was launched at the request of Yarmouth Coastguard at 11.50 hours to go to the assistance of the yacht to see what action could be undertaken to free the yacht and/or ensure the safety of the yacht crew.

The Sheringham Lifeboat was launched at the request of Yarmouth Coastguard at 20.00 hrs about ½ an hour before high water to go to the assistance of two persons cut off by the tide on Stiffkey (tidal) marshes. A local person had seen them in distress and informed the Coastguard. Realising the complex nature of the tidal marshes especially at high water on a spring tide the Coastguard had requested both lifeboat and helicopter assistance. Happily the potential casualties managed to find their own way off the marshes without further mishap much to the relief of the emergency service personnel who were then stood down.

Wind: East Force 3,
Visibility: Good 5 miles
Sea state: Moderate/choppy
Swell: 1 metre
Weather: Overcast
High Water 11:35hrs
The Sheringham Lifeboat was launched at the request of Yarmouth Coastguard at 12.00 hrs to go to the assistance of two persons who had been cut off by the tide on Stiffkey (tidal) marshes whilst trying to see the stranded (dead) whale. Realising they were cut off they called the HM Coastguard on a mobile phone who tasked Sheringham and Wells Lifeboats and Helicopter Rescue 125 to proceed to the scene.
The sea by now was covering the majority of the marshes and the coastguard eventually instructed them to remain stationary as they could not see where they were walking and could easily fall into one of the deep creeks.
Sheringham Lifeboat was tasked to standby at the Fairway Buoy at Blakeney harbour entrance as Helio Rescue 125 arrived on scene. The two persons were located and winched into the Helicopter and taken to be de-briefed by the HM Coastguard.
Sheringham Lifeboat was stood down and returned to Station and was re-housed, refuelled and ready for service at 13.30 hrs.
In this instance the mobile phone (and comprehensive emergency services) helped save their lives but is absolutely no substitute for good planning. Most mobile phone networks have no coverage on the foreshore and cannot be relied upon.

Weather fine, swell heavy: 1 1/2 to 2 metres, wind W F2-3. Vis good: 5 miles The Sheringham Lifeboat was launched at the request of Yarmouth Coastguard at abut 09.25 hrs to go to the assistance of an 18 foot Crabber 'The Quay Sweep' which had capsized in a very heavy swell off Blakeney Point with 3 persons on board. Having safely negotiated the heavy swell at the bar, the Lifeboat located the 3 casualties on the eastern side of the point where they and their boat had been washed onto the shore by a very heavy ground swell. One of the Lifeboat crewmen entered the water to help two of the casualties on board the Lifeboat and then assisted the third casualty to bend a line onto the Crabber so it could be towed back to Morston Quay. An excellent service professionally and safely completed.

Overcast, swell 1/2 m, Vis fair. The Sheringham Lifeboat was launched at the request of Yarmouth Coastguard at 20.00 hrs to investigate the possible ditching of a light aeroplane, which had been seen, and heard in the vicinity of Weybourne. By speaking to anglers on the beach locally the Lifeboat Crew established that a small light aircraft had been seen to circle to seaward to line himself up with the small private airfield at Muckleburgh. Yarmouth Coastguard stood the Lifeboat down and called the search off at 20.25 hrs. Not quite in the class of a 'who dunnit' but a good result.

The Sheringham Lifeboat was launched at the request of Yarmouth Coastguard at 19.10 hrs to go to the assistance of a wind surfer who had been in the water for some time and was unable to re-mount the surfboard. The Lifeboat rescued the wind-surfer and also his friend who was swimming out to give assistance. The Sheringham Lifeboat was launched at 10.25 hrs at the request of Yarmouth Coastguard to go to the assistance of the 75 ft beam trawler the ZUADERZEE with 3 persons on board, which was taking on water in position 3 Miles north of Wells 15 miles WNW from Sheringham. The Wells Lifeboat, which had to travel to Holkham beach for a low water launch, was launched at about the same time as the Sheringham Lifeboat arrived at the casualty at 10.50 hrs. The Sheringham boat stood by and helped stabilise the situation until the Wells Lifeboat arrived on scene with a pump at 11.10 hrs. The combined pumps were able to reduce the water level sufficiently for the Wells Lifeboat to take the ZUADERZEE in tow towards Lowestoft with the flood tide, which had just come through. The Sheringham Lifeboat was released at 11.45 hrs to return to Station. A good well managed service.
