A
superb collection of over 40 watercolours accompanied by drawings
and reports portraying the rescues of the Sheringham Lifeboats.
A unique testimony to the exploits of the Sheringham Lifeboats and
their crews over the last two centuries.
Mick Bensley was born at Sheringham on the North Norfolk coast.
Living by the sea he developed a profound understanding of its moods,
its awesome dangers, its lapping stillness.
Mick also became deeply respectful of those courageous men who risk
their lives amongst the sea's turbulent fury to man the lifeboats
to help those in peril.
Mick was a student at the Norwich school of Art, after which he
worked in London as a graphic designer and illustrator for 15 years.
In 1980 he returned to Norfolk to paint professionally. He has since
gained an international reputation as a marine artist of skill and
accuracy with paintings in private collections around the world.
Mick now lives and works overlooking the sea at Rottingdean on the
Sussex coast.
